Unfortunately Cyprus is now also in the restricted countries. Trying to find a way around it (VPN, brokers etc). Apparently their license (they do have one for Cyprus) is only for the Sportsbook section (exchanges are prohibited by law in Cyprus). They are working to make the site available again at least for the Sportsbook section (and hopefully the exchange).

Any suggestions for a way around the problem?

a VPS is the only option i can think of but you may have looked into that. i dont know a great deal about it all but i was speaking to someone only about three months ago and he was always in and out of the country and ran all his automation from a VPS and then accessed it from his mobile and IPad. may or may not be true but i will be looking into it as i was thinking of cyprus myself, failing that ill have to go somewhere else!!!!

A VPS will do the job, the ones supplied by Bet Angel use UK IP addresses, but if your Betfair account is registered to an address in a country were Betfair is prohibited it wont do you any good.
You would need to register a new account with an address in a country were Betfair is permitted, you can then use a VPS to access from anywhere.

So basically they are not only checking the IP they are also checking the registered and verified address. That is a problem. But opening a second account with betfair is basically not allowed. You also have to find some else to open an account on your behalf.
