I like this version - or maybe I'm just listening with my eyes!

actually saw this guy via an interview with steve via. thought the stuff was a bit plastic tbh. but no doubting his increadible talent on multi instruments
I know what you mean, he's just a kid still so I'm sure he'll find his own way. He's got a great ear for those chord changes that make the hair on your arms stand up.

My bro still has trips to the states searching in basements looking for rare soul and selling it over here. His pension fund is his basement full of vinyl. Never could stand it myself.

it's a risky investment as fire precautions (sprinklers) would kill the covers (no pun intended - and maybe even warp the vinyl). good luck to him, if you know what you're looking for, it must be a great pastime tho

If you buy your kids a guitar rather than an xbox...https://youtu.be/CgVqX0a49HM?t=123 ...and they eventually grow into this https://youtu.be/o0NJiasWrLc

He does a stunning version of Tears in Heaven too but I can't listen to it as my dearest friend, how passed away, played it at his 3yo son's funeral, and we played it at his too..... and it absolutely destroys me still. That's it, it's set me off again, I shouldn't have thought about that. Fck.

The undisputed kings of the cover, Brett Domino and Steven Peavis (aka the Brett Domino Trio)
https://youtu.be/xTwweLJ78KE?t=31
Saw those guys for the first time on 8 out of 10 cats does countdown (I love British panel shows and the daft humour involved more so than a non-British really should). Had to check good ol' Google whether it was an act or they were that dorky

I dislike almost all covers, I come across. Music for me is about someone pouring their inner soul into words and sound, much like literature with the words part of it. That's bloody hard to do with a cover. The only musician I've come across able to do something special with multiple covers is Jeff Buckley, with his Hallelujah being a standout and the only cover, among about a million of them, of that Cohen classic doing anything for me. Which just makes his early demise all the more sad; before he could do more of his own work.
