I'm going to tell you for free!

Pick horses which relate to your wife.

She let me down on Amazing Red. But ginger nut hosed up!

I just need to give the system a bit of a shine, then a Racing Post column is surely mine!

An old mate of mine said his wife always did better than him at race meetings by picking the jockey's silks she liked!

1st Trouble and Strife
2nd Brexit Means Brexit

While I was checking that result I found this which was quite interesting about the free movement of horses.

couldn’t find a video but reminds me of “Carry On At Your Convenience” where Joey the Budgie picks all the winners for Sid James

The earliest horse race I remember was the Grand National in 1992.

Here is it:

I was a deeply weird 14 year old and was interested more in politics than horses, so loved that Party Politics won in an election year...

The best one was the year before. I was working for Ladbrokes at the time and we got caned. We literally ran out of money, we had to cash cheques at the bank on Monday, so we could pay punters out. At the time, Ladbrokes admitted it was one of their worst National results ever

Seagram and Garrison Savannah had both arrived after spellbinding performances at Cheltenham and looked perfectly weighted. There was massive money for them both during the morning, eventually going off at 12/1 and 7/1 (2nd and 3rd favourites behind Scudamore's Bonanza Boy). They stormed it

We took some serious hits on Seagram at 16/1 and 14/1 before finally winning at 12/1. I remember though 5 punters had the reverse forecast. They scooped some massive returns and wiped us out

Why does brexit seem to come into every topic?

I'm interested. Do you think something like that could happen today? Or with all the data etc bookies have they'd be able to swerve it? I suppose I'm asking was that a function of it's time?

Not by me. Incidentally, I know that some horse names are banned. I don't think for example you can call a horse a swear-word or after people? for example:

Personally, I'd be quite strict about controversial names. People need a break from all the hassle. I can't hack it.

Instead of having a list of banned names they may as well judge each name on application, because the list will be endless!

I remember Hoof Hearted - early 80's and some poor commentator had to call the race.

There is a horse in the US called Packy's Out that won a race the other month. I suspect it's a common name over there and not offensive but you can imagine the controversy if it raced over here!

That’s so funny

Major B Oner

I’ve always said. If I ever own a horse I will name it My Face.

Just so the commentators or punters watching the race can cheer. Come on My Face!

... also works if it's a faller "my face falls...."

Correct me if I'm imagining it, but wasn't there a horse back in the 90's called Mary Hinge?
