A new version of Bet Angel has been released, it is available for download from here: -

http://www.betangel.com/securedownloads/BAP_1_40_0.msi

Key changes are: -

New charting option available from the ladder settings menu. You can now use matchsticks / last traded price chart plots on the ladder.

Improvements to Tennis score feed. We've added error trapping to try and capture mistakes that occur when the odds feed switched incorrectly during a match.

Additional improvements to bet matching and cancellation process.

all very nice but is there going to be any explanation as to what these sticks mean?, what do they visualize/indicate/predict.

are they just alternative traffic lights, if not how are they suppossed to be used/ interpreted?

what are they for? :?

Liking the new upgrade some very useful features so once again well done to all at BA.

I would like to suggest one additional addon to the next upgrade if possible - extending on the newly added "show last traded volume" feature would it also be possible to have the following option

Ladder footer option "Recent traded volume" (similar to recent 3 prices as currently done for "Total bets value") have the last 3 or 5 matched totals as this would give a good indication as to which way the price is moving regardless of how much money is stacked either side of the book waiting to be matched.

Andy

You may want to ask the question on this thread: -

viewtopic.php?f=20&t=10411

That's where the original request came from.

i did ask on that thread sometime ago but no answer/explanation.

i have had a look at these sticks this afternoon and they just seem plot a red stick if the latest price matched is higher and a green one if the traded price is lower, and nothing plotted if the ltp is the same.
they just seem to follow the red and green traffic lights but ignoring the yellow one.

so i assume the length/thickness as no significance?

also they would appear to plot the same plot as the micro charts on the 1 tick screen, but drawn with a very thick pen or magic marker.

they seem to me to be a low resolution micro chart.

They key to my request for this feature was the need I have for it in my trading. If you don't see how its useful, then I would hazard a guess it won't be of any use to you, as with many features in this heavy bit of software, it caters to many but much of it is optional. for me, having this instant notification of what direction other ladders are moving is essential. having said that, I haven't seen the update yet and by the sound of your description it doesn't sound quite what I was hoping for but I will wait and see on that score.

I think the main point here is that just because it is a new feature, it isn't a compulsory one. Like many features, you can take it or leave it. If your trading doesn't require it, you don't need to worry about how to use it. Its there if needed, not to create a new need, at least that's my view.

You said you didn't get any explanation on the other thread, I explained why I wanted it and how I made use of it as part of my request. That's about all i can say, it helps me spot a turn around on another ladder to exit my trade, or to open a new trade.

Unsure about the matchsticks , interms of how useful will really be , but do like the fact you can see the volume flash on LTP , gives an easier indication of where the weight of money is.

Personally I wish I could track the volume by indvidual price in totalas indicated on the ladder , as could use this with Excel to capture and monitor increases , as and when required.

Could you expand on this? I was having trouble with fill or kill and offsetting not always operating as they should. Was there a problem recognised in this area?

We were never able to recreate any faults, but have had a few similar queries into support over the last month which may suggest that either sometimes the betfair API is failing to cancel bets (perhaps 1 in 1000 requests), or that it is misreporting how much has been matched during the cancellation process.

We have made changes to re-send the cancellation request when we get a meaningful error back from betfair (to give the fill or kill a second chance to function as expected) and also added extra logging to highlight times when the API has failed to report the amount matched before cancellation. So we've made it as bullet-proof as possible from our end, but will wait to see what gets reported in the logs next time a problem arises.

So please go ahead and use this version and let us know how things differ from your previous experiences. If we are able to capture in the logs an occasional point of failure with the API, then we'll be able to highlight it to betfair for them to fix.

hi
I upgraded to V1.4 yesterday and Ive had two or three of these messages since:-

was unable to process the bet cancellation request. Second attempt activated. (Ref: xxxxxxxxxx)

Related to fill/Kill bets
I dont ever recall seeing this type of message before in prior versions nor whether its an issue or something to be concerned about?

Hi, I upgraded to v1.40 to-day and I can't log in any more. It just says not responding. I have deleted the previous version, so I can't re-install that.

That's the extra logging and the improved fill or kill routine as mentioned in the previous post. It's nothing to worry about, in that Bet Angel is functioning even better than v1.39.0, because v1.39.0 didn't have the concept of the second attempt in these situations where the betfair API misbehaves (and the extra logging). It proves it was worth us adding that extra feature. However it's not great that the API is failing to process a cancellation 100% of the time. Obviously a 'feature' of betfair's latest API.

Were you running fill or kill bets in-play? The few support queries we had about this recently have all been in-play. Please send a selection of logs of these instances into support and we'll try to spot a pattern and follow it up with betfair.

There haven't been any changes to the login process, so I'd completely uninstall Bet Angel, Reboot, and reinstall from http://downloads.betangel.com

If that doesn't help then contact support and we'll try a few other things to resolve the problem.

Thanks for confirming. yes, these were all al in play and running on a fast fill/kill rate of 200ms, so maybe that's a contributing factor too?
thanks
