Hi Mobius,

It’s confusing for a newbie to understand where to start because a lot of the information seems to sort of contradict.

It’s hard to know whether you should be studying the ladder initially or searching for re occurring patterns

From what I keep reading it seems like a new traders primary objective should be to spot patterns, and therefor when you open up a race 10 minutes out you should know what’s likely to happen based on what “normally” happens in that situation

Then you read the signs and signals to confirm what you expected or not

Do you have any thoughts on this?

I wish I knew what normal was, maybe Peter or Dallas could enlighten everybody so we all knew. Every market is different - go through the "Betfair Chart of the Day" thread, or Today's Racing. Every days a new day, and every market is a new start. I pick what I think is a good position about 10mins out and see what happens

wouldn’t get too involved in trying to read Betfair charts ,

I wouldn’t try & look at a chart trying to interpret past peaks & troughs etc, they can give clues as to what might happen but it really is what happens when the real money comes into a market, if I knew back then what I know now I wouldn’t have wasted all that time trying to study the ins & outs of Betfair charts in the way I did, they’re distorted anyway, but then again I guess it’s all part of the learning curve finding stuff out through experience, making mistakes & looking at stuff that’s available to you & reading into it incorrectly

Find the tab: Movies

Then select playback speed you need.

Yup! , A definite thanks to Dallas - it's saved me literally hundreds of hours. An entire afternoon can be flicked thru' in minutes once you get the hang of it and learn to make FAST FOOD (eating and coffee are vital). There is an entire section on recording methods - other brands are available. Load up practice mode, guardian and flashback and WATCH!
It's great for spotting mistakes on the ladder in manual mode YOU KNOW when you should bang you head off the wall and if you are a masochist you can invite your mates around to watch. Have fun ! :D

The Market Overview is the most underated component of Betangel especially as you can now change the background.
Mobius, can you tell me how to change the background of the market overview screen, I can't find where to do it anywhere. Is it a new feature of BA v1.5, I'm currently using BA v1.49 ?

I think v1.50 only.
it's as below

I've had no probs with v1.50 but it is still in beta. You can download 1.5 and still keep the 1.49 setup file on your hard drive to revert if you want to be safe. Normally upgrading isn't a problem but any changes back the way can be iffy.
