Hello all,

Please could you offer some advice around logging data?

The advice I keep seeing says to log your races and look for patterns and what works / what doesn’t.

It might seem silly but I’m struggling with what information to log. Obviously race type and number of runners, but how do you guys log what happened in the 10 minutes leading up to a race?

Do you record say the top 4 horses prices at 10 mins. Their current position in their trades range, what’s happened to its price so far from looking at the Betfair graph, the type of race ie 2 short priced favourites, 1 odds on runner

I’m just not sure what to log and how to log it in s war that I can easily review it if that makes sense

Any advice hugely appreciated

There are quite a few data capture spreadsheets you can download from here that will get you started
viewforum.php?f=54

These will capture all the stuff you need like odds, volume, Book% etc at the intervals you want

That a good question cooky. Saving data and recording screens is easy, but using all that data in a meaningful way is another thing if you don't have a really sophistictaed way to query it.

Once you have captured the data then you can run it through something like:

http://neuroxl.com/applications/sports/ ... /index.htm

Or any other data analysis/mining software.

It was a comment to the seller of the software and not to be taken personally.

I am beginning to hate this forum.

LinusP,

Sorry if I was blunt in my response.

What I hate about this forum is the unwillingness of the ones making consistent profits to be bothered to try to help the newcomers. Nobody is asking them to give away systems or edges they have figured out/developed etc.

We all had to start somewhere.

I was lucky enough to get a few pointers from Jimibt and I try to repay the favour with sending him stuff I am working on. Although, I am sure he spends most of the time spilling his coffee with laughter. :) If he saw my BF P&L then he would probably suggest I had my keyboard confiscated and be committed to any asylum.

Obviously people need to do their own homework but its nice to have a teacher to fire questions at without being told the answer, being criticised or put on the naughty chair.

None of this is directed at you or anyone else, just an observation from a wannabe BF super trader. :)

Peace....

I think they are grown up enough to know I wasn't directing it at them. :)

So who were you directing it at? Those who make consistent profits but can't be bothered to help others, and are also not called Dallas or Euler?

But you didn't say that.

Thanks for acknowledging that I make consistent profits, but oddly enough I don't ever recall discussing that matter with anyone.
