Leicester off this afternoon but still plenty of other racing on.

Saw these stats on Twitter just now:

In 2011 there were a total of 24 race meetings either abandoned on partially abandoned.

In 2012 to date there has been 88 abandonments!

The Levy isn't going to look pretty next year!

But still some way to go to beat 2010's 140 abandonments!

2 meetings lost this week and more may follow.

Tuesday - Sailsbury 3:30pm - 7:10pm - 8 races

Thursday - Epsom 2:00pm - 5:20pm - 7 races

Friday - Sailsbury - 4:35pm - 7:10pm - 6 races - potentially going to be cancelled

Due to Chafer Grub infestations (a new one on me):

This can happen in the Autumn and a few meetings have been lost in previous years, though they can treat the course you would think.

Those are a major problem where we are (East Mid), there must be about 6 people on our road who've got their lawns all dug over so as to leave them fallow for a couple of years to try and shift them. They're really hard to get rid of, gardeners beware.

Not sure if it's the same issue but Chepstow suffered quite badly from turf infestations a few years ago and had to relay a large part of the turf. Must be a real nightmare for the Clerk of the Course.

Looking like an afternoon off next Wednesday as Taunton has been called off due to hard ground (will we ever get a sustained period of rain?) which leaves just 2 afternoon and 2 evening meetings.

Dundalk has now been moved forward to a 2:45pm start, with Fakenham starting at 1:00pm and Nottingham at 1:10pm times are likely to be altered until Dundalk starts so I think I will still take the day off with such a busy week the following week with the Melbourne Cup week and Breeders Cup it is time to rest up as won't be much sleep that week!

Day off next Monday (19th November) as only 1 afternoon meeting, Plumpton, is on after Leicester has abandoned already due to hard ground, there is an extra card on Wednesday evening which makes it 3 afternoon and 3 evening meetings.

Hereford now have taken the card that was due at Leicester, so back to 2 afternoon meetings.
