What's special about this meeting? Never looked at it before?
It's one Australia's main jumps carnivals (which has an extremely small market). Over three days it combines flat and jumps racing. It culminates with the Grand Annual Steeple and the Warrnambool Cup today. Without looking at the data, it seems to have grown quite a bit in turnover this year.
Thanks, I get it now. A sort of Aussie Cheltenham or a mixed meeting at Sandown.
The Grand Annual was a 5500m steeplechase, that's 3 mile 3.5 furlongs, and they used starting stalls!

Just wondering whether that would work here given the problems we've had lately with NH starting procedure.

Me and the traders I know get about a 90% success rate trading scalping and swing trading and its mainly a matter of reconising certain patterns in the market and taking the appropriate action and of course you have to have years of experience so that you can read the market whatever it is doing ..

Derek how do you trade the Australian markets everyday without paying the turnover charge? Or do you pay it? You seem to be up trading the markets most nights.

Turnover charge only applies to New South Wales courses. I avoid them except for Randwick and Rosehill. I make sure I trade under 25 such markets a week so I don't get charged and avoid trading short priced horses to keep my total stake down. I've heard Betfair will stop you from trading NSW if you cost them money, as they have to pay the charge themselves.

Thanks Derek for replying.

Even by avoiding the NSW tracks you find it worthwhile doing each day obviously rather than getting up at a normal time and trading the UK racing.

Why do you think this is? It is interesting that you can make a good living this way to allow you to trade full time as I thought the common consensus was that it was only worth doing Saturday's for the Australian racing.

I trade UK, US, Australia, and a few others when there are big meetings. There are many different styles of trading. I know some big-time traders are only interested in the big meetings for obvious reasons, whereas others have a more machine gun approach and just need to make a few quid on each race.

Sometimes trading low liquidity markets in the US or Australia isn't really worth the time for what I get out of it, but if I'm relaxing with a beer and listening to music while trading it's time well spent. :)

I should just add that there has never been a 'normal' time for me to get up - I've always been a night owl. :)

One of the things I love about Australian racing is that when you back a horse that drifts sharply you don't need to panic - sometimes you know it's coming back down.

Bf still up here but some odd delayed movement went on, on my machine, so I have bailed. 80% strike rate and $10 profit on $20 stakes. Good day :)
