Perhaps what's needed is something like a mini group playoff at the end with say 2nd & 3rd bottom and 2nd & 3rd top playing each other once at a neutral ground.
Works well enough for the 1st rounds of World and Euro cups

Good point. WBA and Leeds imploded. Let down by Gayle, Brunt, Robson-Kanu, and now Berardi and Casillas. But I guess some of those impressed enough to get a Premier contract? If not, that's a big fail.

I hate football and the only part of the FA Cup I used to like when my dad used to watch it 'back in the day' was the Royal Marine Band at half-time!
