How to use Green Out function

I had a a little go last night and wanted to test the green out function. I ticked the box but didn't know what to do next. Do I just leave it ticked until the event finishes or do I need to do something else to confirm I'm happy with it?

The tick/untick just enables/disables greening you still need to click on one of the figures to either close the trade or green up.
