how does BA know what cell to read/write?

Hello!
One question. I have a sheet connected to BA, and using stored values. But I dont understand how to make BA read/write to a specific cell? Lets say I have the score in a tennis match in a specific cell in the sheet. How do I get BA to read that cell? Or is it that it can not do that and I have to use the sheet as is and write all the code in excel to get it to do what I want it to?
