Anxious about BOTs

Hello to all of the community!

English isn't my native language, so please excuse my mistakes.

First off, I'd like to say that lately I got really interested in BF trading and stuff. I have a mathematical background and I find trading fascinating, but I'm reading on various websites that BF isn't what it used to be and that it's almost impossible to beat the roBOTs, which, they say, comprise about 60% of the market. I have seen people leave Betfair for those reasons.

I'm willing to study for years if that's what it takes to become a pro at trading, but I need to know from the start that it isn't a waste of time. I'm mostly interested in pre-game technical analysis. Please reply and thanks for your time.
