I get the feeling Mercedes think they've just about got their money's worth out of Hamilton. All the promo, drivers title etc etc, job done. With just one year left on his deal....I can't see the ruthlessly efficient Germans pandering to him too much.

Vettel or Alonso would bring a few million former fans back to the sport overnight.
A rookie will have millions of current fans waving goodbye to the sport for a while as Hamilton will be clear No1.
Gotta love Rosberg though, wins the championship and retires which is the ultimate F#@k You to Hamilton as it doesnt give him the chance to avenge the loss.
I'd love to see Vettel alongside Hamilton but dont think Mercedes would risk it.

Good news about little Bernie Ecclescake going ... traditional circuits look a bit safer again. Yanks love tradition, Bernie just loved the cash.
If circuits aren't charged so much to host maybe the ticket prices will come down.
US model is to get the punters in, then sell them merch. How much is the Kentucky Derby? About $10? NASCAR is an amazing weekend for under £100.

Season to start in Austria on July 5th.... Well that's the intention.
Summer break effectively cancelled and season extended.

I think Formula 1 has the answers to the Covid 19 crisis.
Put a miniaturised version of an F1 front wing on everybody and they won't be able to get within 6 feet of another person without walking into a wall, social distancing sorted SIMPLES

Murrey Walker has passed away aged 97. Not a brilliant commentator in descriptive terms (for a former horse racing fan) but he was the Peter O'Sullevan of F1 with his distinctive commentary - F1 never felt the same for me after his retirement.
If I’m not very much mistaken ...
RIP.
His uneasy relationship with James Hunt was sheer brilliance. And I think you're right. Many have aped his style, but nobody has got close to his entertainment value. And I don't mean that in derogatory way. He had a knack of ramping up the excitement of motorsport. And I'll never forget the sombre commentary over what turned out to be Senna's death.

RIP Murray Walker. The endless Sunday afternoons of yesteryear with his dulcet tones for the F1 commentary as my brother and I sat on the sofa, waiting for Worzel Gummidge and Aunt Sally and our Mum's trifle...
He and Peter Aliss that we sadly lost last year, were two of the best sports commentators I have ever had the privilege to experience. Knowledgeable, insightful, and enormously entertaining with their wit and repartee; in particular Murray bickering with James Hunt, God rest his soul.
RIP Murray. You were the last of an era of English gentleman, and sorely missed.

I loved the way when Senna took teammate Prost off the track on the first bend to win the championship, Murray said "This is fantastic!".
Although there's nothing fantastic about two guys coming off the track at 150 mph, I think he meant "sensational", but his excitement got in front of his words.
