Here's how you can overcome cognitive biases:

Trading is often about how to take the appropriate risk without exposing yourself to very human flaws.

I don't understand how psychology will help me trade the 95% of markets I'm avoiding?
It probably won't at the moment, but spending less time posting on the forum during racing hours and watching the markets would probably help you find those strategies and also a bit less over thinking things ;)

Shaun lets get back to our spreads/trading!

Once I hit 20%; then I'll spark another psychology related debate ;)

I haven't done any 'proper' trading for almost 3 months, it's 100% 247 development at the moment still.

Well 50% dev, 50% learning and bug fixing. Todays task has included such joys as figuring out if I need an "AWS Elastic Beanstalk" and other assorted utterly mystifiying things.

The objecvtive being, to continue not having to sit at a screen trading all day. This is much more fun ;)

shaun - if you're developing in .net, definitely investigate the CCW introp route, as well as the Excel-DNA stuff. it literally does allow you to use BA/Excel integration but at the same time take advantage of the OOP features offered by.net.

as for elastic beanstalks -too chewie!

It's C#,SQL & API....the last thing I need is more TLAs (3 letter acronyms) and that's without even looking at AWS EC2 VPS. :)
Any canna take any more strain on my dilithium crystals, as another well known Scot says.

Could you not start a new 'garbage' thread or a 'guess what the f**k I'm talking about' thread?

What's your native language Stella? Google translate seems to turn what you're saying into meaningless garbage. It's either that or it's the Buckfast doing it.

Do you mean you aren't actually trading the Betfair markets? If so, it seems bizarre to me how much 'advice' you post on the forum if you aren't actually a successful active trader. Or have I misunderstood what you meant? :?

A retired doctor can give advice you younger doctors, you don't need to be active.

Very true, so Shaun used to be a top trader who is now retired and just tinkering with automation, my mistake. Do you know why he gave up full time trading Derek? Just made too much money and wanted to leave some for the rest of us?

I didn't say he gave up or retired, I didn't even know he hasn't been trading. I'm just saying if you stop trade for three months your trading knowledge will still be up to date. Two years may be different as the markets will have changed substantially in that time.
