Just seen that Betfair have released an excel to parse historical data, I haven’t used it but looks very handy as this seems to get asked a lot.

BDP - Historical Data Excel Workbook
Thanks Linus for this info. Probably stupid question as you say you haven;t used it , but, can you search for player names in the data. I have installed and downloaded database but there are just a list of event ids. Would be great if you could search for a specific tennis match by player name but perhaps this isn't possible.
Thanks again for the information. it's really useful

Looking further, once u have logged on to the historic site, u can view remote data etc.
I cant get it to load into a sheet .. but, maybe thats becos the site is 'under water'
Will try later .. does look promising.

Is this logging into the API or just the historic data server, has anyone investigated the login code. Would be good to have a login routine for the API soley via excel. I haven't had time to download or look at it but probaby wouldn't be able to decode it if I did.
This isnt the easiest.
Anyway, managed to get it to download some basioc golf data.
the unziped that data, but, then what ?
Shouldnt it have a csv file format ?

As a general note :
I do think programmers assume a level of knowledge, which is a reach.
Most non-techies find it v hard to follow basic text. Pictures are a big help.
We stupid, and we know it.

Nobody (?) is stupid, we all just know different stuff.
I get it Mega, and from someone on the other side of the fence I feel the same when you talk about sport which I know f'all about compared to you, and I don't especially have the desire to spend months and years studying it. We're Jack Spratt and his wife.
To be absolutely fair, the word doc does have a lot of pics.
I will maybe re-try later .. but, its time consuming, and my heart isnt really in it.
But, maybe people can get an insight etc, into whats required and what u should get out.

hello all,
having issues my side too... am able to login, and see the data i've requested, but when i try to select the remote data via the filter button i get an error in the bottom left hand corner:
[readcollections error: Object required] <image attached>
seems there is some connection error and am unable to link into the options - market type / country / file type are all blank dropdowns so unable to select anything to download.
is anyone else getting this error or any ideas on how to fix ?
seems to be working via the BF front end so not sure this is a BF issue.
