Profitability changes with higher stakes

For three weeks I've tested a strategy with stakes 0.01 and 0.02, which proved to be very profitable. Now, I implied higher stakes (0.17), and now it seems just to break even. Disappointing, to say the least. Anyone familiar with this phenomenon?

Yep. Otherwise your profit would go to infinity.

But if you can make profit from small stakes, automate it and adapt it to more markets and youll have a pretty good little earner

You are probably profiting from a rounding error, rather than the strategy itself on those stakes.

Betfair don't let people bet such small amounts typically, so you could end up with a rap across the knuckles if you continue on small stakes.

It is most likely variance. How many 1c bets did you have, with what ROI, and at what average price? How many 17c bets did you have, with what ROI, and at what average price?
