I was just wondering if the odds moved up much in play ?
(The race tomorrow turns in play too)..
I have a couple of large lay bets in with offsets pre off, so if I make anything I will leave half on BC and dutch the rest..good luck!

Not on the last race, but big time on the race before. It drifted out to 1.50 or something if I remember.

This is an interesting quote: -

THE world's most respected racehorse assessor rates Black Caviar the "greatest certainty since Phar Lap" in the Goodwood Stakes at Morphettville today.

"The only difference is punters will be offered odds to bet," Timeform's Gary Crispe said yesterday.

Bookmakers refused to lay bets on Phar Lap 13 times, a feat Black Caviar is yet to achieve.

But she will start the shortest price of her career today, possibly as short as $1.02.

The last horse to start that short was Ajax in the 1939 Rawson Stakes at Rosehill - and he was sensationally beaten.

IF she makes it to Ascot, she has to be a certainty. Pity the UK odds are only Ante Post.

Never came out of first gear.

Hi Jim
I was watching the odds on the diamond jubilee race as i expected them to come in (other than someone pulling a couple of grand out at 1.64 nothing happened)...
Should be a great race
Regards

And so the day is upon us. Started in the Ante post market in the 1.80's and will go off 1.20's or possibly a bit lower. Really looking forward to the race.

Any horse that is rated 25lb+ better (Timeform 137)than the opposition means that what you are betting on is that there will be a mishap, either on the way to the start, in the stalls or when tacking across to the rail. After that I think Black Caviar is a shoe in and I fully expect her to go off (with 10,000 Aus followers at the course) at much shorter odds; maybe 1.12 to 1.15. [The last 11 races she started at best 1.14 and the last 8 races biggest SP was 1.1]

Her "true" oddss are 1.05.

If the price reaches 1.16 pre-event, then I will happily lay him

Don't forget he's travelled 12,000 miles to get here, there's no guarantee he's going to be as rampant as he has been

I can't see any of her comepetitors today will be able to take her on. 1.20 will be preatty good odd to have. I think her fair odd need to be around 1.08. The going wont't have any effect. The only thing that can prevent her from winning is her journey from Oz to here but since its already been few weeks I doubt that this will be much an issue. I opposed her (needless to say without success) once when she was 1.04 but I doubt that I will oppose her today.

They say Peter Moody has her at the peak of her condition.

Only terrible luck will beat her.

Lets hope that's not the case.

Fair enough, my mistake

However, that just backs up my initial thoughts. In my experience, females can be fairly unpredictable after a long journey
