Anyone read any good books?
I had a book bought for me at Christmas - "Why does E=MC2"..Brian Cox
It was a book that I had intended buying and must have mentioned it at some point...I have always wanted to know what the most famous equation ever was all about..and understand it
I know that it wont be everybody's cup of tea, but I'm finding it really interesting. It is written in very easy to understand terminology (Mind you I'm only half way through yet!)
If nothing else, it makes you think about things in a different way..and forget all preconceived ideas..for example 4 dimension Time/Space...although it can be hard to get your head around it; just because you cant see it, doesn't mean it doesn't exist (It gives an example of the magnetic field..150 years ago, people wouldn't have believed that such a thing existed as it could not be seen..but now of course, we know for definite).
Anyway, it you enjoy mathematics and have an inquisitive mind, then worth a read!
Got to go; time is flying this morning!
regards
Peter

Read this one on vacation and it very interesting.
Sometimes the author has a biased view that he admits it, but an eye opener.
Pretty sure SuperFrank will agree with most of it.

I've been reading this book, which is an interesting exploration of human cognitive biases: http://www.amazon.co.uk/You-are-Not-Sma ... 1851689397

Haven't read it yet, but got a copy of it and am looking forward to reading it.
Here's an amusing pic from the book

I read this book back in 1996.
Warning - it made me want to quit my job and set out on my own.

I think Malcolm Gladwell extensively drew on a lot of this book in Blink. Although that could just be my cognitive bias at work.
Used my US Amazon kindle account to purchase. Looks like that is all coming to an end. I've received an email from Amazon warning me that they suspect me of living outside the United States and saying I need to send proof of residence within 90 days.
