Thanks to everyone who voted on this idea, your opinion counts and we recognise that introduction of the Sportsbook has made navigating to the Exchange site more difficult.

Over the coming weeks we will be rolling out a new site header which will make getting to the Exchange easier. The Sportsbook will still be the default landing experience for new customers but if you are an Exchange customer you will be taken straight to the Exchange site (to identify you as such we use cookies, so if you delete cookies then you will unfortunately be identified as a new customer). The reason new customers land at the Sportsbook is because surveys show that many new users initially find the Exchange to be too complex and are more likely to learn about, and start to use, the Exchange if they are first introduced to a simpler product.

Thanks,

Betfair Product Team

It would have been nice to see what his could have reached. I expect they've closed it before it becomes too embarrassing for them.

I wonder how many votes they would have got if they had asked a different question - "Vote here if you want to make the Sportsbook the default landing page"

I feel like they have missed the point of the vote!?

Most exchange users will have it bookmarked already, my vote was to increase the exchange awareness to new users.

New users are being driven to Betfair by the "Value" ads and "Dont settle for less" nonsense, seems to be a conflict to then point them straight at the sportsbook.

I don't buy the exchange is too complex argument but hope that people will migrate from SB to exchange eventually.

On another note, baffled by new highs in the BF share price!!!

If they deem the exchange is still too complicated after a decade and more does that not tell them something about their education department etc.

It probably doesn't help that new customers are taken to their "new site", which IMO, is more confusing, not less! I personally continue to use the old site for this very reason, and I can't be the only one; they've kept the old site live for what must be around two years..!

Maybe the "new site" has been improving over this time, but the last time I used it, the layouts and colours seemed to make things appear more cluttered and less clear.

I think I'll start a new thread, as I'm interested in whether people use the "new site" or the "old site".

EDIT: New thread here.

I see Betfair have put the exchange tab next to the sportsbook on the landing page now when you first visit the site.

My betfair exchange has gone all blue, it looks more like the sportsbook now just to help the confusion :x

Hmmm,

Sports book always mentioned first still and is given the first tab.

A win of sorts as you say!

I've just seen the new betfair.

Yah boo sucks... They're still trying to attract mug punters into the bookie zone not the exchange.

It's like they want first time visitors to think the exchange is a community service page

Some fully blooded feedback and the thread has re-opened!
Thanks to everyone who voted, your opinion counts and we recognise that introduction of the Sportsbook may have made navigating to the Exchange site more difficult. We have decided to reopen this idea so that we can keep you better informed on the changes we are making and also listen to your feedback.

In recent weeks we have made a number of changes which will make getting to the Exchange easier.

(i) You can now navigate directly to the Exchange by going to www.betfairex.com
(ii) We have started the roll out of our new site header which highlights better the way into the Exchange. Early results from the roll have indicated an increase in traffic into the Exchange.

The Exchange is what makes Betfair unique and remains central to who we are and what we do. We believe the Sportsbook is a complementary product and will strengthen the Exchange. Surveys show that many new users initially find the Exchange to be too complex and are more likely to learn about, and start to use, the Exchange if they are first introduced to a simpler product. The Sportsbook will, therefore, still be the default landing experience for new customers.

Additionally, we announced in our strategy presentation to investors in May (http://corporate.betfair.com/~/media/Fi ... tation.pdf), we intend to route Sportsbook bets into the Exchange, thus increasing liquidity. We are currently building the technology required to allow Sportsbook bets to be placed into the Exchange and will roll out new products over coming months. We believe that these products will benefit both our Exchange customers (by increasing liquidity in the Exchange) and our Sportsbook customers (by allowing them to benefit from the great prices on the Exchange).

Thanks again,
Betfair
