Dark day for Australian cricket as Steve Smith admits plan to cheat
https://www.smh.com.au/sport/cricket/da ... 4z63q.html
I kept flicking back to the cricket in between races this afternoon and couldn't believe my eyes at seeing this.
Awful for Australian cricket, Australia and cricket.
South Africa vs Australia - third Test, Cape Town
Unusual series played with a great deal of animosity.
Aus clearly crossed the line, but, per ICC rules, it’s just a level
2 offence. No real sanction for that.
Level 4, for personal contact is Red card.
ICC need to change laws.
Expect crowd will be pretty harsh later today.

It has been huge (even more than I expected) at work but has taken a day or two to warm up. It was very quiet on Monday but an absolute frenzy today. I think the Aussie populace needed time to get over the shock .It is only tape and only ball tampering but it has spoken to and betrayed the perceived character generally exhibited by Australians in sport-Possibly even more so than the underarm deal. A local mate of mine summed it up when he mentioned how he wants to punch Steve Smith in the face after having to explain to his confused and sad 10 year old son that his heroes had cheated and not only that-they had planned it.

Smith and Warner should be given a 2 year international ban.
Full story should be known in a few hours but rumblings on Twitter that it was Warner not Smith and that Smith covered for him. Also hearing Warner pointed the finger at some of the bowlers who weren’t in on it and now they’ve gone ballistic and want him removed from the team. Could all be hearsay but has a plausible ring to it ...
I speculated right away that Smith had taken one for the team but thought it might be wishful thinking. What a messCards37 wrote: ↑Tue Mar 27, 2018 11:24 amFull story should be known in a few hours but rumblings on Twitter that it was Warner not Smith and that Smith covered for him. Warner has long been an arrogant thug.
He needs a good kicking down a dark alley way.

It seems Smith has taken wrap, for Warner.
Warner was tilted during series, and resorted to a poorly planned
Attempt to get Bancroft to tamper the ball.
Smith saw Warner/Bancroft in a huddle as they were returning from lunch, and asked “What are u blokes doing ?” No,
Don’t tell me, I don’t want to know.
So, Warner will prob not play for Aus ever again. I imagine his future will be T20 mercenary.
Smith will get long ban, which he can come back from.
Probably not strong enough to be a captain .. but as a batter,
You would want him.
Cost to Warner in sponsorship etc, will be millions.
